What is your position at BPD Zenith?
Senior Consultant
What led you to choose this career path?
I had a choice to be a teacher, banker, or IT professional. Choosing to be in IT was more of an instinctive decision based on my little knowledge about software development from my Engineering degree. After joining this world of software, I have enjoyed different roles as a consultant. I feel consulting is like being a guide for a client to an unknown world. A client will always find a guide, but I am pursuing to be one of the best guides that clients can trust in their software implementation path.
Which part of your job do you most enjoy?
I think the most challenging part of software implementation is the design both functional and technical design. Design not only requires expertise of the software but also requires the patience and perseverance to work with people of different thoughts and ideas. I enjoy being in the design phase of the project the most.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I love playing cricket and badminton. I also love my weekend catch up with friends.
If you were not a Maximo consultant, what alternative career path would you have chosen and why?
I always loved teaching since my high school days (to support my education). Before I started my career in IT, I worked as a teacher. So, teaching would have been my alternate career path.
What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?
Delivering projects in high pressure situation and dissolving the aura of difficult roles during the span of my career is something I have been proud of. Recently, I am also proud of being named as IBM Champion. It is reward of my work that I have done additional to my 9-5 job.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?
Last few years, Biryani has been my stress buster after a long and grinding day. A long drive and seeing places is also a way to unwind from a busy day or week.
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
During summer, you will find me on a cricket field and currently, I am enjoying my time with family over the weekend.
What is a quality that you have cultivated in your career or personal life that has been an important part of your personal or professional development?
Over the last decade, I have seen IBM Maximo changing its technical and functional stack a lot. So, to pursue my career path to be one of the best Enterprise Asset Management consultants required me to be a fast learner and self-learner. Learning is a continuous process and I have grown this quality to learn new things quick and fast, and come back with quality results for my company and clients. Learning quality also help me learn more about my colleagues and clients thought process and this helps me to deal with challenging situations. Thus, learning ability has helped me grow exponentially in my profession and personal life.
